Etihad Rail Infrastructure Project
Location: United Arab Emirates
Completion Date: January 2023

As part of one of the UAE’s landmark transportation projects, a large-scale railway network was developed to enhance the movement of passengers and freight across the Gulf region.
To support safe and efficient operations, 24/7 leak detection was needed for the chilled water pipe systems located throughout key facilities—including substations, inspection and maintenance buildings, and the NOCC and administration buildings. The challenge was to implement a system that would not only provide fast and accurate leak detection, but also function reliably in remote and harsh desert environments where dust, heat, and limited accessibility could impact long-term performance.
-
Continuous 24/7 monitoring across multiple critical facilities
Fast response time with precise leak location capability
Rugged sensor cables suitable for harsh, high-dust environments
Minimal maintenance and low false alarm risk
Proven performance in remote and infrastructure-heavy settings
-
To meet these needs, a PAL-AT 30C control panel was deployed alongside AGW-Plus sensing cables. This TDR-based technology offers continuous liquid leak monitoring with pinpoint accuracy. The AGW-Plus cable is highly ruggedized, specifically engineered for tough environments with minimal risk of degradation or false alarms from dust and debris.
The selected system had a strong track record of performance in pipeline and industrial projects throughout the Middle East, making it a dependable fit for the demands of this rail infrastructure. In addition, local support from technical teams and regional resources ensured smooth installation and ongoing serviceability.
