Diesel Generator Facility Project

Location: Connecticut, USA
Completion Date: 2017

A major global sports broadcasting network built a state-of-the-art diesel generator plant to ensure uninterrupted power supply for its 24/7 programming operations.

With large volumes of fuel stored onsite and the facility located remotely from the main building, the customer needed a reliable fuel leak detection solution that could be quickly integrated into their existing building management system (BMS). The priority was to implement a fast-responding, low-maintenance system to meet EPA compliance and prevent costly operational disruptions.

    • Rapid detection of diesel fuel leaks to minimize environmental and operational risk

    • Integration with existing BMS for remote monitoring and alerts

    • Monitoring coverage for all generator sets, day tanks, and underground storage tanks (UST)

    • Highly accurate and FM-approved sensing technology with minimal false alarms

    • Scalable and cost-effective system design for future expansions

  • PermAlert installed the PAL-AT leak detection system, combined with AGW-Gold sensing cables, across the entire diesel generator fuel system. The AGW-Gold cable was placed around the floor perimeter of the generators and day tanks, offering fast reaction time and chemical resistance—making it the only sensing cable in the industry that meets the FM7745 standard for diesel leak detection in under 30 seconds.
The PAL-AT control panel was selected for its seamless BMS integration capabilities and flexible architecture. Using jumper cables, the system easily extended coverage across multiple generator sets and ancillary equipment without requiring additional panels—reducing installation complexity and overall cost.
